The cold box process involves curing of phenolic resin (Satoshell 600) with lsocynate (601) using amine gas as accelerator (602). In view of saving the crucial heat energy this process has been developed and commercially exploited to such a large extent that it can safely replace shell process
to the extent of more than 50%. Cores with high dimensional accuracy, excellent collapsibility and low gas content can be produced in seconds at room temperature. Binder is composed of a phenol formaldehyde polymer which is dissolved in a blend of latest aromatic and aliphatic solvents.Sand can be easily reclaimed.
