A
ICOFURANS are known as high performance binders.
These binders consist of Urea-formaldehyde precondensate and FA. They are
available in various nitrogen levels (0 to 12 %). Satofuran with less than
2% N2 cured with acid catalyst is an excellent binder. They have
excellent hot strength, low gas, high resistance to metal penetration and
veining. Like PNB it requires sand with low acid demand value. Steel castings
of good surface finish can be made from furan which almost eliminates fettling
operations after pouring. Curing is swift and strength level is high. With
reclaimed sand, resin requirement is much lower which makes this resin
very economical. As a precaution, the catalyst must never be mixed with
Resin because the reaction is highly exothermic and they should be stored
separately.This resin is eco friendly resin.Sand can be easily reclaimed.
